The field of
agriculture and resource economics has changed dramatically
during the last 20 years. Today the analytical tools developed
in this field are integral part of energy and environmental
policy, economic development, food policy and infrastructure
programs. Hence the research work in this area is very
interdisciplinary, tackling conceptual and theoretical problems
with a heavy load of empirical work.
This empirical work
has yielded reliable data sets on several economic,
environmental, physical and biological variables aggregated in
geographically referenced information systems. Researches
within this area conduct policy-relevant research at the local,
regional and national levels on issues as energy, agriculture,
forestry and resource policy and economics
