The History Department’s defining characteristic is the type of transnational and interdisciplinary historical analysis it employs. The faculty study different countries and regions which they then compare with Mexico. In this way, the Department has forged a new perspective within Mexican historiography in which it compares Mexican history to other national histories, or through which it integrates Mexico into Global History. The Department’s hallmarks are multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and other comparative methodologies, which are then reflected in its high-quality, large-impact publications, its teaching program, and its dissemination of its research beyond academia to a more general public.
